YOUTH ART MONTH
March is National Youth Art Month. To celebrate, Art Educators of Iowa hosts a State Art Show, Youth Art Month every year. If you are traveling to Jordan Creek Mall, Check it out!!! Closing Reception is Saturday, March 29th. You can view the online show here:

Three students from GHS and four students from Grinnell Elementary Schools have artwork in the show. Lucy Skouson was chosen for the Governor's Show and has her work on display in the State Capitol! She has a special reception with the lieutenant governor on Thursday, March 27th.

SCHOLASTIC ART & WRITING AWARDS
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is "the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens." Seven Grinnell High School students placed at the regional competition. Honorable Mention: Penelope Fennell in Poetry with "Hunger," Peyton Stevenson in Flash Fiction with "Waterworks," and Frances Pedersen in Poetry with "When you Leave Me Behind." Silver Key: Magaret Kaup in Dramatic Script for "Grow." Gold Key: Jacob Raney in Photography with "The Weight of a Withering Heart," Athen Schubert in Poetry with "Memories," and Myles Manley in Poetry with "Ode to Naivety." Additionally, Athen Schubert is an American Voices Scholarship Nominee. Gold Key recipients move on to compete at the national level! The Regional Awards Celebration was on March 8th in Iowa City. The National Awards Announcement takes place on March 26th. Congratulations to all!
